Speak Percussion: March Static (Klangspuren)

  • Parish Church of the Assumption of Mary Franz-Josef-Straße Schwaz, Tirol, 6130 Austria (map)

Klangspuren Festival, Austria

Two brass bands, one town: Schwaz plays – and the audience wanders freely among them.
The two brass bands of the town of Schwaz, the Knappenmusik and the Stadtmusik, join forces for a large-scale project. More than 85 musicians will perform in the magnificent spaces of the Parish Church of the Assumption of Mary and the Schwaz town park.

The opening piece is Peter Jakober's "little beauty." Here, countless individual tempos overlap to create a multi-layered tapestry of sound. Those who stroll among the musicians will hear differently: personal listening experiences emerge, changing with every step and every new perspective.
From the open space, the path leads into the parish church, where Thomas Meadowcroft's "March Static" takes over. Under the direction of the Australian ensemble Speak Percussion, slowly moving brass sections circle the audience – a constantly evolving soundscape that acoustically re-explores the church space.
